Q: What’s better - tweezing or waxing from home?

A: This totally depends on your brow type and brow goals, it is a personal preference! If you already have some definition, you can use tweezers to pluck away stray hairs easily, keeping your existing brow shape tidy and defined. Tweezers with a pointed, precise tip are best for gripping and removing any short stubborn hairs to create a clean and precise brow look. If you have fuller, fluffier brows with less shape, wax is great for sculpting.

Q: Should I trim my brow hairs?

A: Trimming your brows is the ultimate way to keep your shape looking polished, neat and tidy between salon visits. Just remember less is more. You also want to make sure you’re using the right tools for the look you’re after. I use curved scissors when I want to trim unruly hairs into a soft natural finish, or straight scissors when I want to create sharp brow lines. Best tip is to brush hairs up and across, having them sit how you would wear them before trimming, to avoid cutting into the brow.

Q: My tween wants to tweeze. DIY or head to the salon? 

A: I always recommend a reputable brow salon at this age as removing young brow hairs in the wrong areas can damage hair follicles, resulting in the brows not growing back (hence the thin 80’s brow!!) IF however you do want to do this at home, I suggest over drawing their brow shape with a liner pencil and using tweezers to pluck away hairs from the area outside this line- where there is no chance of plucking too close to their brow edge.

Q: I’ve neglected my brows and it’s too late to get to the salon. Now what?

A: Pro’s know best when it comes to shaping brows into the most flattering style for your face, but if getting to the salon is not an option, I recommend lining your desired shape with a pencil or Creamade, then brushing your brows into that shape. Then use tweezers to pluck away stray hairs outside of the defined brow line. If you choose to use an at home hot wax, remember with waxing is that less is more and if you are waxing the top of your brows, ensure you have drawn your shape line boldly to avoid running into trouble and dipping into the natural brow shape.
