“apples never fall” still can’t find annette
Last Night in Hollywood Peacock celebrated their series Apples Never Fall at the elite members only club Aster for the Television Academy people (yours truly in attendance) to try and nab Emmy votes.
Multiple Oscar Nominated, BAFTA and Golden Globe Winning Actress Annette Bening was not there for the Q&A after they screened the show. To be fair she’s a movie super star so a streamer situation may not be her biggest priority.
Both she and Sir Sam Neill, yup, he was Knighted by his home country New Zealand, didn’t schlep to Hollywood and Vine for this one.
It was a small venue which made it hard to see anything other than Joel McHale and his giant noggin, as he hosted the event.
Please enjoy my very bad pictures below of Joel, his Community co-star Alison Brie, Jake Lacy and one of the show’s Producers. And in cause you are wondering Joel has not and does not seem to age at all.
My apologies to Alison who’s eye were closed in almost every picture I took, but look! Her hair seems so nice and silky and her skin just glows.
She and Joel were very funny as he joked about how good the were together back in the day on Parks And Rec. She and Jake talked a lot about being the vets on set since their sibling co-stars Conor Merrigan Turner, Essie Randles were in their early twenties and both doing their first big show.
Alison and Jake shared a lot about how they all became so close spending time in Australia where they were filming. The cast talked a lot about Hollywood -teaching the newbies about how things worked and they all loved hearing stories from their work mother and father legends Annette and Sam Neill. They said on the weekends Sam would screen Annette’s biggest movies (American Beauty, Nyad, The Grifters, Regarding Henry, Postcards from the Edge) while he poured glasses of wine from his famed New Zealand vineyard “Two Paddocks”. They called it the Annette Bening Film Society.
The whole event felt very inside the business and intimate. After the screening and show chats, we all moved up to the rooftop to enjoy a beautiful buffet from Food Network’s Star Marcel Vigneron- where my TV pals and I continued to take bad pics.
Thanks to NBC Universal for hosting another epic event.
