YES, I copy and pasted that directly from the synopsis written in the press release that was sent to me. It was TOO good not to. One of those colorful characters is played by Fashion Daddy/Heartthrob/Zaddy Pedro Pascal. Here he is in the movie’s trailer defending a baby with axe. I’m in!

But if you need to know more, Freaky Tales is set in 1987 Oakland and those colorful characters are on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles (more from the beautifully written synopsis). Insecure’s Jay Ellis plays an NBA star who’s skilled with a sword and a smile! Are you in yet?

Former member of the girl group Fifth Harmony Normani makes her acting debut in the movie while the late Angus Cloud (best known for HBO’s Euphoria) makes one of his last appearances on film.

Two random super interesting facts:

1- the movie is executive produced by hip-hop pioneer Too $hort.

2- Tom Hanks plays a video store employee.
