the look for less: blake lively’s $19,000 jeans
Blake Lively’s fashion is blowing up the internet yet again. The woman who seemingly has everything thanks to her outwardly adorable marriage (to midas man, Ryan Reynolds), her multi faceted career (which also includes beverages and haircare), and her enviable circle of friends (counting Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadad), has gotten used to making headlines for her wardrobe (she apparently has such good taste she doesn’t use a stylist). This time though, the headlines she’s been making on the press tour for her latest movie, “It Ends With Us,” have been downright controversial. First, she’s been slammed for giving insensitive answers to serious questions involving the film’s theme of domestic violence.
@oggofyat Did she listen to the question???? What a garbage answer where is her media training?!? #blakelively #itendswithus #drama #fypage #interview ♬ original sound - oggofyat
Second, she’s being accused of being out of touch with reality with some of her outfit choices. Nevertheless, we can all agree that the former Gossip Girl knows how to use clothes to command attention, so before we get to jean-gate, let’s just take a moment to enjoy the fabulous florals she’s been wearing in honor of her character, Lily Bloom, a florist.
Blake’s fashion sense has been embraced for so long, she probably thought she was untouchable. Until she unveiled these striking Valentino’s with embroidered denim flowers and cutouts at an early screening of the film. Cute right? Retail cost? $19,000. Maybe not so cute after all.
As expected, the price tag got the internet absolutely buzzing with the burning question, “how much is too much for a pair of jeans?” In a P&C poll, our readers said they typically prefer to spend $50-$100. Are jeans in that price point going to uphold the same labor standards or use similar materials? Probably not. Are we ever going to spend $19,000? Again, probably not. So we went on one of our “looks for less” hunts and here’s what we uncovered.
